My Mission.

Welcome to COVAL Fitness. I’m Mike Coval, founder and Head Trainer, with a story rooted in overcoming challenges to help others thrive physically and mentally. My journey, from battling weight and depression to harnessing a passion for human performance, has shaped the mission of COVAL Fitness: transforming lives through dedication and hard work.

After a pivotal internship at IFAST solidified my dream, I opened COVAL Fitness in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 2nd, 2011. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of guiding diverse clients towards their peak form – from NBA hopefuls to dedicated parents. My approach is simple: commitment to improvement is the key to transformation that transcends the gym.

Beyond Coaching: My life is a balance between striving for excellence and cherishing moments with my family and three dogs. With a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and several professional certifications, I continuously push beyond my limits and encourage others to do the same.

WHY ARE YOU SO EXPENSIVE?
Our approach at Mike Coval Fitness goes beyond general fitness, focusing on individuals who value a detailed, process-oriented program tailored to their specific needs. Unlike more budget-friendly options, we invest in a comprehensive understanding of biomechanics, exercise physiology, psychology, and more to craft personalized plans. This detailed attention to each client’s journey reflects in our pricing. If you’re looking for highly personalized coaching, I’m here to help. For those seeking more general options, I’m happy to recommend local alternatives that align with your fitness goals.
IF I END UP ON THE WAITLIST TO WORK WITH YOU IN-PERSON, THEN HOW LONG WILL I WAIT?
As of April 2023, unless you work with me privately, 1-on-1, then I’d say the chances of us working together in-person are low.

However, there might be slots available for online training so make sure you check those out on the site.

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS FROM MY FITNESS TRAINING?
Results vary depending on factors like genetics, diet, consistency, and intensity of workouts. Typically, noticeable improvements can be seen within a few weeks to a couple of months of consistent training.
I'M NOT AN ATHLETE AND I'M NOT IN SHAPE. IS COVAL RIGHT FOR ME?
I’ve helped clients from all different backgrounds: fitness level, ages, genders, medical conditions, athletes, former athletes…you name it I’ve helped them.

HOW DO I PREVENT INJURY DURING WORKOUTS?
Warm up before exercising, use proper form and technique, gradually increase intensity and weight, listen to your body, and incorporate rest days into your routine to allow for recovery.
HOW DO I STAY MOTIVATED TO EXERCISE REGULARLY?
Set realistic goals, find activities you enjoy, vary your workouts, track your progress, enlist a workout buddy or hire a personal trainer for accountability, and celebrate your achievements along the way.
